First Stripes Officiating Program
The First Stripes Officiating Program is meant as an entry level program for 12-14 year olds who might be interested in becoming a Level 1 Official in future years. When officiating at this level, you would only be able to Officiate ½ ice children’s ringette (U10 Step 1 & Step 2). First Stripes Officials CANNOT officiate full ice games (U10 Step 2, Step 3, U12 or higher
In order to become a First Stripe, you would be responsible for reading the Children’s Ringette First Stripes Manual and successfully complete a test.

First Stripes Application Process:
- The application process will open in early July prior to the beginning of the season.
- Submit Application to the Director of Officials. Application period closes August 1st.
- The Director of Officials will contact each applicant once the application window has closed.
- Interview and selection process will then begin, this could take several weeks. Not all applicants will be considered for interviews.
- Successful applicants will be notified and are required to complete further requirements by RAB which will be provided once selected.
First Stripes Application process will open in late August or early September.

- Black CSA approved Helmet (visor optional)
- Black pants
- Whistle (with finger grip, not necklace)
- Black Sweater
- Skates
- First Stripes Arm Band (Provided by ARA’s Director of Officials)
